WE´LL TURN THE WORLD
On board diary 2010
June 22nd 2010
What a busy days that I had. On Saturday I race in Duluth and as you know the main protagonist in the race was hard wind.
After the race like always began the recovery process (streching, hidratation and a good breakfast one hour after finish the race, hot tub and a good nap).
That night I had some time to disconnect my mind and I hang on some time with my friends to a concert organized by the marathon. There were only local band but the place was so cool.
On Sunday I spent the morning in downtown Duluth. I felt so tired from marathon so just time to relax and luch in a patio with fantastic calm.
In the afternoon I enjoy a ferry over lake superior. It took me only two hours but it was awsome this cruise on the biggest lake in the world. After the cruise I enjoy an exhibition of old cars and more than hundred Harley Davidson of some guys who began a drive from northern to southern US.
After this evening it was time again for another 20min hot tub and also 10min sauna before packing all my stuff for my next day travel.
Yesterday I flught from Duluth to Denver at 8:20am (I woke up by 5:30am) and I had a connection flight in Minneapolis. Once I arrived to Denver I began with my friend Saul Mendoza a long drive to Wimberley (Central Texas) and it took us fifteen hours driving, of course we slept in a hotel, so I arrived today by 4:00pm to the place where I´m gonna stay training for next 12 days.
I also have had time to organize all my stuff, do laundry and enjoy a 35min push in the roller with almost 30 celsius degrees. I was burning in the roller.
Tomorrow back to work hard and a double session in the morning and afternoon. Hope to be recover by that time.

Last few days in Colorado were really tough (snowy, rain, wind and gloomy).
Last two days snowed and it was real chilly for train but today were I did my last hard session before next event coming up which will be celebrated next Saturday in Minnesota I enjoyed my track training with a great sunny day.
I feel in shape and begin to enjoy all hard work accomplished during last months. Now sleep, eat right, read and easy sessions will be my main tasks till Saturday.

How nice is drink a hot chocolate right after a hard work day.
Just a few more days to back racing and although I miss my family I´m really focus in training and days are flying by.
Today some 500´s in the morning and right after I cooked a great rice with some vegetables and tuna.
After a recovery nap time for an hour push and half hour of hot tub before a wonderful dinner watching LAKERS VS CELTICS.

Just 18 days since I arrived home from the US and I´m already in America. The trip was such a great with CONTINENTAL operators who moved me to First class in the flight from Madrid to New Jersey, where I´ve back fourteen years later (I studied here in 1996). Day was long enough, wake up at 4:15am and flying from Alicante to Madrid at seven, then and after three hours connection in Madrid flight from Madrid to Newark who was such a great one and also I saw it such a shorter one with a great nap in this bed and the wonderful food who served.
… Time for a short push and rest because tomorrow I need to train at first time in the morning.

Already at home. Yesterday was an exhaustive trip, even more considering I wait for instead two and a half hours, more than four due to the volcano which made a big delay in the plane coming from Madrid…
Flight from Chicago to Madrid took nine hours (two more than use to) due to we flught southern way and came into Spain from Africa.
My daughter Daniela came to pick me up to the airport and my exhausted feeling dissapeared. Then time to take out all my luggage stuff, make laundry and today easy session with JET LAG but have some weeks at home to recover with my family.
Just wanna say that trip was much better with Graham who invited me to some tapas at Madrid airport.

Yesterday after a 30K session at 7:30am and with just one degree below zero, I spent a great funny time with some friends around Spokane.
Four “cripple” and Tom who was in charge all the time to take out our everyday chairs and leave again inside the car (what a tough train Tom), we enjoy a great day and visited bunch of fabulous places.
Today after ten great days of training and too many other things in Spokane, I have a real long flight to Grand Rapids (MichiganI with conexions in Seattle and Chicago. It will be a night flight so hopefully I´ll have some time to relax and think about all what happened here in Spokane.

Race day could be defined as perfect and after tough Lilac Bloomsday there was time for a sauna, masage and a funny dinners with wheelers in the azteca, a mexican which is already a tradition for wheelchair athletes.
We could call yesterday day as windy day due to in both sessions by seven and four there were 46 mph winds (76Km/h) and althought I could finish both they were such a real dangerous and winds destroyed too many things all over Spokane.
Today sunshine is cool with just only 30 degrees (below 2 celsius) and I think just gonna train by nine because wind chill (seventeen degrees) (below five celsius) so I´ll need to do something else to make a better day (laundry, get some stuff ready and read).
28th April 2010
Yesterday I had an endless trip. From Alicante to westerns US coast, specifically to a welcoming city and surrounded by snowy Mountains, Spokane (Washington).
From Alicante to Madrid only took me one hour flight but I wait for almost four hours to take my second flight directly to Chicago which was a nine hours and a half. In Chicago I lost my flight to Denver so I took one to Portland (Oregon). Those four hours flight were eternal, also drew a long sleep and hunger, feeling that make you feel despair.
When I arrived to Portland I couldn´t believe it and in the airport (one more to add in the list) I went for a quick dinner, of course, not the best for our diet but I don´t usually the healthy stuff at the airports, and a slice of pizza and a vegetables wrap was my choose, just before jump to this small plane and cross from Oregon to the border with Washington and Idaho. I arrived Spokane at 9:00pm and by ten I was in the hotel.
After 28 eternal hours trip I arrived to my hotel room and only the chily wind and rain make me wake up from my ehausted sleepiness.
This morning I went out for a short push with my everyday chair and enjoy a healthy breakfast. This evening I´ll push for a while and then I´ll enjoy a hidromassage to recover from the big trip.
